Join us for this webinar to learn about the latest approaches to treating Minimal Change Disease, FSGS, and Membranous Nephropathy. The educational symposium is brought to you jointly by the Indian Society of Nephrology and the International Society of Glomerular Disease. All are welcome to attend. The sessions will include presentations and debates from renowned nephrologists, addressing important decisions and controversies in these conditions, plus a series of case discussions. The symposium will run for two hours.

At the end of this program, participants will be familiar with the pros, cons, and necessary considerations of current approaches to treating MCD, FSGS, and MN. There will also be an opportunity to engage in Q&A with the expert presenters to answer your questions about these conditions.

Shyam Bansal, MD, DM, FISN, FISOT, FASN, FRCP Secretary, Indian Society of Nephrology; Senior Director & Nephrology Department Head, Medanta Hospital

Dr. Shyam B. Bansal is the Senior Director & department head of Medanta’s Institute of Nephrology and Kidney Transplant in Gurgaon, India. He is the current Secretary of the Indian Society of Nephrology, former Secretary of the Delhi Nephrology Society, a member of the TTS Education Committee and the ISN South Asia Regional Board, and an executive member of the Indian Society of Organ Transplantation.

Dr. Bansal trained in nephrology at SGPGIMS Lucknow, considered one of the best institutes for nephrology in India. He established the department of Nephrology at Medical College Gwalior in 2006. Subsequently, he worked as a consultant in Fortis Hospital, joined the Department of Nephrology at Medanta Hospital, Gurugram at its inception in 2009, and has been instrumental in establishing this department as a leading center for nephrology and kidney transplant in India. He is also the coordinator of the DNB teaching program in nephrology and is actively involved in the training of new nephrologists. He organizes a Kidney Transplant Update yearly for transplant professionals in India and South Asian countries, which includes faculty from leading centers around the world.

Dr. Bansal has been involved in the care of more than 2000 kidney transplant recipients so far. He is also an avid researcher and has published extensively. Some of his notable research work includes kidney transplantation in HIV-positive patients, the first report and subsequent series of ABO-incompatible kidney transplants in India, steroid-free kidney transplant in India, and paired kidney transplantation in India.

Koyal Jain, MD, MPH, FASN CHAIR, ISGD Education Committee; Medical Alumni Distinguished Teaching Professor & Associate Professor of Medicine, University of North Carolina

Dr. Koyal Jain is a Medical Alumni Distinguished Teaching Professor and an Associate Professor of Medicine in the division of Nephrology and Hypertension at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, US. She completed her MBBS at B.J. College (Pune), followed by a residency at the University of Connecticut and a nephrology fellowship with the renowned Dr. Ronald Falk at UNC, where she is now on the faculty. She also holds an MPH in Epidemiology from UNC. She is an inaugural chair of ISGD's Education Committee.

Dr. Jain is a clinician educator and serves as the program director for the nephrology fellowship and the glomerulonephritis and vasculitis fellowships at the University of North Carolina. She also is the co-director of Undergraduate Medical Education for the Department of Medicine at UNC. Dr. Jain clinically specializes in glomerular diseases and vasculitis and is the director of the glomerulonephritis clinic. She hosts the podcast GN in Ten from the ISGD Education Committee, along with Dr. Kenar Jhaveri.

Dr. Kenar D. Jhaveri is Professor of Medicine and Associate Chief in the Division of Kidney Diseases and Hypertension at the Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell (Hempstead, New York, US). He completed his residency training at Yale University New Haven Hospital in Internal Medicine and then a fellowship in nephrology at New York Presbyterian Hospital-Weill Cornell campus. He is an inaugural chair of ISGD's Education Committee.

His clinical and research interests are in glomerular diseases, AKI, and cancer-related kidney complications. He is a founder and world leader of the field of onconephrology, and created the American Society of Onconephrology (ASON). In addition, he is the founder and program director of the Galdi Fellowship of Glomerular Diseases and Onconephrology at Northwell Health.

Dr. Jhaveri's interest in nephrology education is vested in using creative ways of teaching nephrology to medical students, residents, and fellows. He has published on using social media and other innovative tools (games, concept maps, role playing, creative writing) to make nephrology a fun and exciting field. He has conducted numerous faculty development seminars locally to teach these techniques and has a teaching-oriented blog called Nephron Power. He hosts the podcast GN in Ten from the ISGD Education Committee, along with Dr. Koyal Jain.

Currently, he is the editor in chief of ASN Kidney News and has won several awards at a local, national and international level in nephrology and medical education. He was recognized in 2023 with the ASN’s Distinguished Leader Award.
