Montrez Lucas, LMSW, joined the International Society of Glomerular Disease (ISGD) in November 2025 as the Director of Strategic Operations and Events, bringing a strong background in patient services, program leadership, and operational strategy. In this role, he oversees strategic execution, organizational coordination, and the delivery of ISGD’s global convenings, ensuring that the society’s initiatives operate with efficiency, clarity, and measurable impact.
Before joining ISGD, Montrez held multiple leadership roles at NephCure, beginning in October 2022 as Associate Director of Patient Navigation before advancing to Director of Patient Engagement in 2024. During his tenure, he guided patients, caregivers, and families through the complexities of rare kidney disease care—building trusted relationships, reducing access disparities, and connecting individuals with essential resources. Prior to NephCure, he led a team of social workers at Emory Healthcare in Atlanta, deepening his expertise in clinical support, systems navigation, and team development.
Montrez earned both his Master of Social Work (2015) and his Bachelor’s degree (2012) from Florida State University, grounding his career in a strong academic foundation and a commitment to service. Across all of his roles, he has focused on empowering patients and families, strengthening healthcare pathways, and supporting communities through informed advocacy and access to care. His combined experience in social work, operations, and stakeholder engagement uniquely positions him to advance ISGD’s mission and contribute to innovation in glomerular disease research.
