ABOUT THE MEETING
The International Podocyte Conference returned to Canada in 2018, hosted in Montreal by Elena Torban and Andrey Cybulsky from McGill University. Among the many highlights were plenary lectures on the genetics of diabetic kidney disease from Jose Florez (Harvard University/Broad Institute, USA); on studying podocyte development and disease using kidney organoids from Ryuichi Nishinakamura (Kumamoto University, Japan); and on personalized medicine in the 21st century from Nada Jabado (McGill University, Canada).
In addition to the scientific sessions, each day included a "poster blitz" session where lead authors gave a 2-minute presentation on their posters.
The Marilyn Farquhar Award was presented to Peter Mundel.
